(Misc.) I've commuting around San Francisco for a 2 months now on my PX, and would like to address some of the points brought in another surprisingly thorough review on here, especially given that the reviewer spent only 20 minutes with a floor model.
1) The seat post in the picture is high. You can easily position it MUCH lower. I'm 5'9" and have plenty of room for adjustment in both directions.
2) You will need to adjust the derailleur on any new bike as the new cables stretch. It's easy & there are loads of videos on YouTube showing how. My shifts flawlessly, but did need adjustment.
3) The handlebars, like the seat, are totally adjustable with regard to height, angle etc. I'm older and have them quite high so I can ride upright. This criticism is just unfounded.
4) Pedal assist vs throttle is just a matter of taste. I find the thumb throttle very convenient and intuitive. I challenge myself to use it as little as possible and this has helped me get in shape... Read more

Phantom X Bike Review, April 14, 2012 This review is from: Prodeco Phantom X Folding Electric Bicycle- 500W Lithium Powered, 17+mph, 30 Mile Range, 2 Year Warranty, Built in the USA! (Misc.) I really wanted to like this beautiful looking bike but after test driving it for 20 minutes it became obvious there were several unexpected problems. Here is a list of them:
1) If you look at the photos you can clearly see that the seat post has been over-extended to leave space for the battery, this seat cannot be lowered. If you are 5'7" or shorter, this bike cannot be lowered to your height, if your feet cannot reach the ground you will invariably loose control or fall, it is dangerous. If you install a suspension seat, the seat will end up even higher.
2) The gears do not shift as smoothly as they should. It could be that this particular bike shown to me needed adjustment but I don't know for sure.
3) The short handle bars seem to make the bike harder to steer and somewhat unstable. So you need to have a strong upper body or switch the handle bar for a larger one.
4) This bike uses an electronic throttle, it does not have the so called "pedal assist" mode. As... Read more
